Help me out When my eyes are wandering When I see the wind blow When I hear the windigo Hissing a lipless song Wishing I’d sing along But my tracks Are still stained with others Greed and heat Burn my feet from deep within When I feel my low growth When I hear the windigo Rushing with giant stride Thrush sing nothing to hide But then smack Twigs crack thrush flutter Help me out When I taste the skin and bones Of a love not my own When I hear the windigo Heckling me back again Will this night ever end I don’t know Time to go see mother

When you say I want to settle down And then I say I want to know That’s when I learned to love you When you say you want to mess around That’s when I say I’m lying down And when I learned to love you When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel Like a baby bunting its beak wide open Sucking worms Hey When you say you love me That’s how I want to know There’s a mountain path too wide for two We’re taking turns Hey When you say you love me When you say you love me When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel When you say you love me When you say you love me When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel That’s how I want to feel When you say there’s no one else around That’s when I say I’m gonna drown And when I learned to love you When you say we’re going into town And then I take it lying down That’s when I learned to love you When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel Like a baby black bear clung to mom as the river churns Hey When you say you love me That’s how I want to know That the forest fire set by lightning is meant to burn Hey When you say you love me When you say you love me When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel When you say you love me When you say you love me When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel That’s how I want to feel Oh great egret Take my lonely spirit Fly it high as white spruce Use it as you choose But when you need it egret Don’t forget to feed it breezes and thistle weeds And leave it flying free Free with fleets of other spirits Free with fleets of other spirits Hey When you say you love me When you say you love me When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel When you say you love me When you say you love me That’s how I want to feel

Repelling 04:06
One two three Give a kickoff And we’re airborn Free as a bighorn sheep I ram my feet On the rocky Slab of land Bend in And we’re repelling again Two three You’re a vision You’re a dream Black hair Wind is blowing As you careen I stare Then I look at the Slab of land Rocks break And we’re repelling again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again Two three feet I’m falling I’m falling fast Nine ten feet I look up And see the last thing I can remember Before I hit base camp And my femur Breaks through my skin It’s you You’re a bighorn sheep A flower blooms under your hoof With every leap My world and my vision Are closing in on you And we’re repelling again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again I’ll go where you say you want me to Because I know this day is one of a million days with you I’ll spend them all the way you say you want me to If you say yes to the question that takes A mountain Some altitude sickness And months worth of training And trekking And trail mix To just ask you One two three Will you marry me As I spit blood On my brand new carabiner I wait for you answer I’m passing out Wake up And I’m passing out again Two three And I wake up at first memorial Look out the window and see an oriole Look at your finger and see a ring Pass out And we’re repelling again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again And back and out and back again I’ll go where you say you want me to Because I know this day is one of a million days with you I’ll spend them all the way you say you want me to Because you said yes to the question that takes A mountain Some altitude sickness And months worth of training And trekking And trail mix To just ask you

One time I’ll find a straight line to climb And maybe I’ll be just like You’d like me to be Whoa Yeah Whoa Whoa Yeah Whoa One time I’ll find a straight line to climb And maybe I’ll be just like You’d like me to be Whoa Yeah Whoa Whoa Yeah Whoa Since you’ve been a little while And you can’t seem to find Since you’ve been a little while And you can’t seem to let me know why I want to see you On time And never wandering online And maybe I’ll be just like You’d like me to be Whoa Yeah Whoa Whoa Yeah Whoa Since you’ve been a little while And you can’t seem to find Since you’ve been a little while And you can’t seem to let me know why I want to see you I want to see you

Why can’t you see the beauty in The dying white spruce tree Its brittle needles are wearing thin And that’s what’s wrong with me Why can’t you see What is happening What is happening You don’t even like to gather leaves in the fall So why did you bother buying a rake at all Why can’t you see what is wrong Something’s wrong Why can’t you see what it is That’s wrong with me Why can’t you see what it is That’s wrong with me My pedigree is wearing thin And that’s what’s wrong with me Why can’t you see What is happening What is happening Since you want to go out I don’t want to come back Since you want to go out I don’t want to come back Why can’t you see what is wrong Something’s wrong Why can’t you see what it is That’s wrong with me

I took a walk At 6:00 And you said to be back By seven or before Then I closed the door You said to be back You said to be back You said to be back By seven or before

about

It's an album!
It's a comic book!
It's a musical!
It's not very happy, but I hope you like the tunes!

In Anishinaabe stories, if you shun community and act in selfish isolation, you just may transform into a human-flesh-craving Windigo.

Windigo National Forest kinda explores that idea, but mainly focuses on forest ranger Chuck Skoogly's angsty personal and relationship problems.
